His sacrificial love

“Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2).

It is His incomparable, unconditional and sacrificial love that held Him on the cross; “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).  Our modern generation has turned Easter into another money robbing holiday that is there to miss lead us from the biblical celebration of this sacred holiday. Easter is not about the easter bunny, it’s about Jesus Christ. It is about celebrating our freedom with a heart of gratitude, for  Christ paid the ultimate price. It is about remembering with humility the works that were done on the cross so that all mankind may be saved from the penalty of death; “for the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

We truly are loved by God The Father that “He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John3:16). Jesus Christ came because of His incomparable love for us and walked in love regardless of all that He endured. His life here on earth wasn’t easy, although He is the Son of God, He also suffered like we suffer. He felt pain, was betrayed, insulted, rejected and humiliated for our sake. Jesus went through the emotions, disappointments, and temptations of life. When you call out to Him, He will help you for he genuinely understands what we go through here on earth. Due to His incomparable love, he accepted to leave heaven in all its glory and live in a dirt body, in an unholy world. His incomparable love is what held him on the cross; “He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).

We are not worthy of His love yet He loves us unconditionally. When we are faithless He remains faithful. He loves us even though we are sinners which is evidence of His unconditional love for us. His grace does not depend on our behavior, our past nor our regrets, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Our salvation isn’t our own doing, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Worthy is the Lamb that was slain for my life and yours due to His sacrificial love, “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:21). On the cross, He carried all of our burdens and defeated all things that can block us from entering the Kingdom of Heaven. We are healed, delivered and freed from all bondages through the power of the cross, “it is finished” (John 19:30). Every single sin was covered by the blood of Jesus Christ, therefore when we repent our sins, we are forgiven because “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). The Prince of Peace came to earth so that we may “have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). Let us rejoice because He has risen and so will we when we die, “for this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in Him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day (John 6:40).”

Share the good news that Jesus Christ is not dead; He is alive! Happy Resurrection Sunday and remember that you are fearfully and fashionably made!
